Abstract

This study aims to examine the function of a heat exchanger as a device used to transfer heat energy between two fluids with different temperatures without mixing because they are separated by a boundary medium. The heat transfer mechanism is designed to match the resulting fluid temperature to operational requirements, thus enabling more effective energy utilization and minimizing heat loss. Maintaining the performance of a heat exchanger requires a well-planned and scheduled maintenance program, taking into account its supporting functions and cost-effectiveness of implementation. This means that maintenance activities usually occur when a system begins to experience performance degradation, operational problems, or even stops functioning properly. Therefore, maintenance can be understood as a series of activities that integrate technical, administrative, and management aspects to ensure equipment remains reliable, comfortable, and capable of operating according to its intended use
